November 2015 CHOP's Buerger Center Ribbon Cutting

On November 7, 2015, we were honored to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and official opening of CHOP's Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care (an incredible state-of-the-art medical facility that will extend and improve CHOP's ability to treat children with serious illnesses). Attending this monumental event were Alan's family, some of his closest friends, and even his two favorite teachers from school. It was a heart-warming day with a very special group of people.

This was the grand finale of a journey that began over 2 years ago, when we pledged to donate $25,000 in Alan's honor to help build this impressive and important medical facility. We couldn't have imagined how beautifully it would turn out, but it exceeded all of our expectations. And the rooftop, where Alan's garden will provide a respite from the challenges of treatment, is out of this world!

It overlooks the city of Philadelphia (particularly Alan's alma mater - Penn), sits next to innovative water and play displays, and has beautiful landscaping that will change with the seasons. We hope that it will give CHOP's young patients and their families much-needed rest, fun and fresh air.

We couldn't have done this without the help the of family, friends and donors like you. Even though the building is complete, we are still fundraising to complete our pledge (we've raised $21,000.. just $4k more to go!).

Please check out this great highlight video put together by CHOP from the day's festivities.

Thank you again for your generosity and continuing care/support of Alan's Legacy.
