Alan's Legacy is pleased to share updates from our 2019 Alan's Legacy Award winners.

Sasha graduated from Pittsburgh University and shared the following update:

"I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh last year, April ‘23, with a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (Biology, psychology, and diversity studies). After graduation I moved home to work at Dynamic Home Healthcare doing pediatric nursing staffing, looking for positions in medical sales. In January, I accepted an offer in Pittsburgh working as an inside sales representative for Surgical Product Solutions, a cost savings and medical waste reducing alternate vendor for surgical supplies. I’ve been really enjoying working in medical sales and expanding my early career experience, and am looking forward to everything to come!

Thank you for your continued support, I appreciate the impact Alan’s legacy has had on my journey and I’m proud to be a part of it."

Natalie graduated from Penn State & shared about her continued achievements.

"I have had so many wonderful things happen the last few years I would like to catch you up on. After completing my Associate's Degree in Liberal Studies at Montgomery County Community College, I decided to finish out my Bachelor’s Degree at Penn State Abington as it was local and had a transfer credit program in place with Montco. I graduated from Montco in May of 2022 with honors and a membership of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society of Community Colleges.

Starting out at Penn State Abington I reviewed all of my credits from Montco and the three many areas I had credits in were Management, Art History, and Sociology…so I decided to major in them! Throughout my time at Penn State Abington I was exploring career options with this type of a degree and the different disciplines I can go.

Entering into my Spring 2023 semester, a business professor shared an Internship opportunity with a company called Sofidel America, which is a multinational manufacturing company based in Italy. I applied and ended up getting an internship there last summer of 2023. I had a fantastic internship experience rotating though different departments and seeing the cross functionality across the organization. One department in particular stood out to me, the Marketing department. I formed a lasting professional relationship with the company and Marketing team landing me a part-time role in their department as a Marketing Assistant as I finished completing my degree.

Another opportunity had presented itself in my final year at Abington as I was inducted into the first ever Brandeis Global Engagement and Leadership Fellowship Program at Penn State Abington, sponsored at funded by two Alumni and donors Barry and Renee Brandeis. The program’s nature gave students the opportunity to lead discussions, attend events, and meet professionals all in the field on civil discourse and international affairs. It was truly an invaluable experience.

Balancing school, a fellowship program, and work was no easy task this past year, but I have made it to the end. Last week I graduated from Penn State Abington with a B.A. in Multidisciplinary Studies AND a full-time job offer and acceptance on the Marketing team at Sofidel America!!!

This note is not only to catch up, but also a thank you. A thank you for showing me the resiliance that I have and will continue to carry with me. You have impacted my life in a huge way and I can not celebrate this milestone without letting you know. I hope to hear back from you soon and further catch up. Sincerely, Natalie"

Congratulations to both Natalie and Sasha and we hope for your continued success!
