First Annual Alan Bell Memorial Fun Day
The First Annual Alan Bell Memorial Fun Day was held at Murray Avenue on June 10, 2008. Alan Bell was a proud Lower Moreland alum. He lives on in the memory of the many friends, family and colleagues whose lives he touched in a very special way. Alan was one of those rare young people who always remembered and cherished his roots. When he was chosen as a Presidential Scholar in twelfth grade, and was offered an opportunity to bring his favorite teacher to the White House, he reached back to 6th grade and the fond memories he had with Mrs. Diana Sullivan in Math class as well as a sponsor of Interact Club. Alan was loved by many teachers and faculty throughout Lower Moreland, and he made it a point to keep in touch with the special people in this community.
The "Fun Day" was the brainchild of Mrs. Sullivan, who quickly, creatively and passionately organized this fundraiser to help Alan's friends and family fund the Annual Award that they established in his honor. The Award is given every year to a deserving LMHS senior who has faced adversity, grown from his/her own hardship and/or made a significant difference in the life of another person. This day could not have been possible without all of the generous and enthusiastic support of the Murray Avenue School community. Dozens of teachers, family and friends came to participate and give of themselves. It was wonderful to see such a big turnout of kids, who enjoyed a very fun afternoon of games, activities and delicious treats.
We look forward to seeing you next year at the Second Annual Alan Bell Memorial Fun Day!
